Industrial Heat Pump
Heating and cooling have become an integral part of all industries. Whether it is radiators and air-conditioning, or boilers and refrigerators. It has become a luxury we as people cannot go without. Unfortunately, how we get most of this heating and cooling is from burning dangerous fossil fuels that are destroying our environment and draining us financially. At MasterTherm, we have worked for over 25 years providing an alternative for residential, commercial and industrial applications, significantly reducing operational and maintenance costs and achieving significant CO2 savings. The following are 5 ways an industrial heat pump can be used.
Industrial Heat Pump Use 1 – Food & Beverage
Food and beverage production, distilling whiskey and brewing beer. All of these industries require heat to be extracted from their products in order to preserve them. Heat extractors condense the heat into a vapour. That vapour is then pumped out into the air, wasting litres of water and heat that could be utilised. These plants usually require a huge amount of hot water for this process, as well as deep cleaning machinery to ensure they are working in a sterile environment. Fossil fuels are used to heat water. The carbon they produce is then released into the atmosphere as greenhouse gases. LPHW or steam boilers typically generate chilled water and power fridges.
So what if you could use an industrial heat pump to utilise all of that extra energy while heating AND cooling your building at the same time with only one system?
Recovery Heat pumps compress that extra energy until the temperatures are high enough to start heating water. The process only uses a fraction of the energy. Our purpose-built heat industrial heat pumps can recover high or low-grade heat, chill and provide up to 82 Degrees of heating water all at the same time.
Industrial Heat Pump Use 2 – Production
Pharmaceuticals, Food processing, the Cement and concrete industry, Medical supplies, Plastic and metal manufacturing and processing (the list is endless) all need heating and cooling systems. An industrial heat pump is an incredibly reliable source for both. The heat is taken from the cooling system and converted into hot water. Then a control system decides whether to reuse the heat or reject it. If it is rejected then it is at the lowest possible temperature to maximise the cooling efficiency of the plant. Advances in technology allow full monitoring of heat pumps online. This enables commercial operators to have peace of mind with the equipment.
Through a remote connection; room temperatures, water temperatures and operating parameters are monitored and altered directly from the manufacturer. Data collected from the heat pump and stored, accessible for several years making optimisation and analytics easy.
Industrial Heat Pump Use 3 – Schools
Schools need to have heating in the winter, as students and teachers alike are in the classrooms five days a week for 8-9 months of the year. A heat pump extracts natural heat from the environment and converts it into hot water that runs through pipes. This can work for domestic hot water, underfloor and standard radiators providing space heating. Our heat pumps are all equipped with equi-thermal control. Which controls the temperature of the heating system depending on the outdoor air temperature. This achieves the best possible heat pump efficiency in all operating conditions.
The environment powers around 80% of the heat pump energy. However, electricity powers the other 20%. This can come from solar power or wind turbines. Low energy consumption reduces the environmental impact of the school. This can teach children the importance of sustainability and care for our environment, while simultaneously leaving the sector with a lower energy bill.
Industrial Heat Pump Use 4 – Offices
To heat, an office building can be immense pressure on your resources. Whether you have a small or a large office building, you need heating and air conditioning. So, heat pumps are the perfect fit for you. Without needing to think about it, your heat pump will continuously heat and cool your water and rooms and keep your employees happy and comfortable. It is key in a workplace for your workers to be content. If you are considering going under renovation or just think your office would benefit from a financial and greener heating solution then a heat pump is the right one for you.
Industrial Heat Pump Use 5 – Hospitality
Every hotel room needs heating and air conditioning units. Therefore buying and running each system separately is incredibly expensive. This is also applicable if there is a leisure centre as part of the hotel. If you are undergoing a hotel renovation, or just looking to upgrade to a more sustainable and economic heating and cooling source we suggest installing heat pumps. Our heat pumps provide constant hot water for your guests, as well as running it through the building to provide heating. Furthermore, all MasterTherm heat pumps can have a cooling mode for your building. Thanks to advanced construction and regulation, our heat pumps cool at a significantly lower operating cost as compared to conventional air conditioning. We distinguish between passive or reversible interior cooling.
Why should I install a heat pump?
Heat pumps can be applied to any industry or infrastructure, they provide a cost-efficient and environmentally friendly HVAC heating and cooling solution. As a result of reducing (and utilising) heat waste, a heat pump can have a huge impact on the sustainability and operating cost of your business.
What is an HVAC?
An HVAC system is any system that supplies heating and cooling. This is why a heat pump is considered an HVAC system but an air-conditioner is not.
As global warming is continuing to worsen and the ‘symptoms’ are increasing and becoming more and more clear every day. We must become as eco-friendly as possible. that’s why you should consider heat pumps for your industry. So, if you are using an excessive amount of fossil fuels you are adding to the percentage of people using these fuels. That group is causing devastation to our planet and the environment on it. 21% of carbon emissions came from industrial pollution in 2020 according to a study done by SEAI. That’s 9,852 kilotons of CO2.
What is the definition of sustainability?
Sustainability is “The ability to be maintained at a certain rate or level” according to the dictionary. In business, it means that you are producing and selling your product without negatively affecting the environment, community or people. Being able to market your company as sustainable is a huge marketing and selling point. Climate change worsens every day, and so it has become on-trend to care.
However, it means more than that. Being able to say you make an effort to be more sustainable means that you want to treat your employees and your world better. Making a conscious effort to be on the right side of history. Continuously pumping out thousands of kilotons of toxic fumes into the environment may seem like the best option because it is the easiest. After all, it is what has always been done. But it is not the easiest option. MasterTerm heat pumps can be controlled using wifi through your Android or iOS device. This means you have 24-hour control over what heating your building is at. We have worked for over 25 years perfecting our heat pumps. They last longer and have as little maintenance as possible, and when it needs to be done it is easily resolved.
