Fethard Town Park
Project Overview
The heating system at Fethard Town Park, Tipperary, was designed to deliver a high-efficiency, low-carbon solution for this modern community facility. The project centred on installing a versatile and sustainable heat pump system to provide space heating via AHUs and domestic hot water (DHW) for the entire building.
Scope of Works
- Installation of:
- 1 × MasterTherm BA60is inverter-driven heat pump
- System responsibilities:
- Supplies low-temperature hot water (LTHW) to 2 Air Handling Units (AHUs) for climate control across key internal zones
- Provides domestic hot water to meet the demands of changing rooms showers and visitor facilities
- Full system control via MasterTherm’s onboard PLC logic, allowing for streamlined management without requiring an external Building Management System (BMS)
System Description
- The BA60iS heat pump offers up to 35 kW of modulating heat output, adapting to real-time demand for maximum efficiency
- The heat pump feeds both ventilation systems and DHW storage, ensuring reliable supply across all zones
- Intelligent PLC controls manage temperatures, flow rates, and system scheduling to optimize comfort and energy usage
- Built-in connectivity allows for remote monitoring and diagnostics via the MasterTherm online platform
Project Results & Benefits
- Multi-purpose efficiency: One highly capable system delivers both heating and hot water, simplifying plant design and operation
- Flexible and responsive performance: Inverter-driven output ensures that the system adjusts dynamically to occupancy and usage changes
- Minimal operational overhead: Onboard controls eliminate the need for external BMS integration, reducing setup and long-term maintenance costs
- Sustainable infrastructure: Heat pump technology significantly lowers carbon emissions, supporting the site’s environmental commitments
- Community-ready design: The solution supports high-traffic, multi-use facilities, ensuring both resilience and comfort year-round
- At Fethard Town Park, the integration of high-efficiency heat pump technology supports a healthier, more sustainable community space. By combining performance, simplicity, and environmental responsibility, this installation sets a benchmark for future-ready civic infrastructure.
