Randles Hotel Killarney – Main Plant Room

Complete revamp of existing LPG fired plant room. The new plant room works has been scheduled in two stages. 1st stage – Installation Air source heat pump system and new heat pump optimise calorifiers to heat domestic hot water for the all hotel bedrooms, public areas and kitchen. As DHW heating capacity requirements can be variable (depends on hotel occupancy, shower heads L/s, secondary return heat losses etc. ) The system’s performance has been monitored and logged to estimate possible spare capacity that could be used for hotel space heating outside the DHW peaks. This methods guarantees maximising potential of heat pump units and avoiding unnecessary oversizing and wasting clients capital on unused equipment.

Based on the performance analyses we will be altering the system by adding a number of units to match building heat loss in 2nd stage. This stage will be completed in Summer 2022 and the entire hotel will be supplied heat and DHW solely from the heat pump plant.

The hotel has also installed Photovoltaic solar panels on the roof partially supplying electricity for heat pumps and a few other energy upgrades. Randles Hotel is leading way in carbon savings and sustainability in the hospitality sector.
