Deansgrange Library Heat Pump Install

Technical information about energy saving project

Apleona, an experienced energy solutions provider, partnered with South Dublin County Council to retrofit the Library building with a heat pump system. The primary objective was to eliminate the use of fossil fuels for heating purposes and promote sustainability within the community.

Heat Pump Installation:

A 35kW split heat pump was chosen as the central heating solution for the Library building. The split system allows for efficient heating by extracting thermal energy from the surrounding air and transferring it indoors for maintaining a comfortable temperature. This technology significantly reduces reliance on non-renewable resources and minimizes carbon emissions.

Solar PV Plant:

In addition to the heat pump system, a 10kW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant was installed to generate renewable electricity on-site. Solar panels efficiently capture sunlight and convert it into usable electric energy. By integrating this solar PV plant into the Library building’s energy infrastructure, further reliance on conventional electricity sources is reduced while promoting sustainability.

Effectiveness:

The combined utilization of a 35kW split heat pump system and a 10kW solar PV plant has proven effective in achieving significant reduction in carbon emissions within the Library building. The replacement of fossil fuel-based heating

The System’s performance is logged in the MasterTherm server. Performance and results are overviewed on a monthly basis and if necessary, adjustments are made to maximise performance and efficiency.
